Stage 3 is the period when advanced skill training really begins, and if the youngsters have already developed advanced motor skills and great athletic coordination, then teaching them a proper golf swing becomes much easier. Our goals during this stage are to train highly functioning golf skills that will last for a lifetime. It is the perfect time to teach perfect fundamentals like, grip, stance, posture, backswing, clubface, swing plane, downswing and hitting (impact). It is also the perfect time to build great techniques and feel for chipping, pitching, putting and bunker play.
I would now recommend introducing juniors to more serious competition and teach them how to cope with the physical and mental challenge that this brings. More emphasis will be placed on “Playing the Game” and skills like scoring, course management and preparation will be taught at a more advanced level.
